Carver is the current editor of children’s and young adult books for Red Deer Press and has worked in the publishing industry for 30 years as editor, publisher, writer, and commentator. He has also taught courses on writing for
children at George Brown College in Toronto for the past 20 years and has given workshops to writers across the country.

Book designer Michael Solomon was awarded the 2000 Claude Aubry Award.

Named for the late Claude Aubry, former director of the Ottawa Public Library, this prestigious biennial award is presented by IBBY - Canada to an individual for distinguished service within the field of Canadian children's literature.
